A few months ago, I had a woman contact me about my services. She was inquiring about modalities that can help depression and anxiety. I spoke to her a couple times and explained what I offered and the benefits she could enjoy with regular sessions. A few days later she contacted me and told me that it was simply not in the budget and would not be making an appointment. I thought that is an interesting choice and for a brief moment it made me kind of sad for her and her body. It is her choice though, but so many people put themselves last on the list. Believing that it is in someway selfish, or being overindulgent.
I suppose that self care can seem foreign to most. We are not raised to believe that we should do kind and nurturing things for our selves. We will be that kind to others...just not ourselves.
I even know friends and colleagues that are experienced healers and still do not choose to do any self care.
